Iranian dissidents rally in France for the overthrow of Iran’s theocracy

LE BOURGET, France — Thousands of supporters of a dissident Iranian opposition group rallied here Saturday for the overthrow of Iran’s theocratic government at an event that featured speeches by several Trump administration allies — including Newt Gingrich and Rudolph Giuliani — as well as the former head of Saudi intelligence.
Mr. Trump is “laser focused on the danger of Iran to the freedom of the world,” said Mr. Giuliani, who was perceived by many at Saturday’s rally to be an emissary for Mr. Trump, despite holding no formal cabinet position in the administration.

“Iran must be free!” added Mr. Gingrich, a Republican former House speaker, who rallied the crowd by condemning Tehran’s record of human rights abuses.

Turki al-Faisal: Iran is the greatest sponsor of terrorism in the world

Prince Turki al-Faisal, chairman of the King Faisal Center for Islamic Studies, said in his speech Saturday at the Iranian opposition conference in Paris that “the Iranian government is the greatest sponsor of terrorism” in the world.

Al-Faisal said, “Khomeini sought to export revolutions and coups to the region.”

Al-Faisal stressed that the Iranian elections are undemocratic and illegitimate because Khamenei appoints the candidates, saying, “the behavior of the Iranian regime does not qualify it to be a democratic system.”

There is no doubt that the Middle East is in turmoil like never before. And this is highly due to the disastrous engagement/lead-from-behind policy adopted by the Obama administration, despite its claim it sought to lessen tensions.

Iran is taking advantage by expanding its sphere of influence through proxy groups in Iraq, propping the Assad regime in Syria by dispatching a conglomerate of militia shock troops and fueling the Yemen war by providing arms, money and logistical support to the Houthis. However, the days of Iran’s advances are numbered.

Washington must come to understand more action is needed against Iran’s moves in Syria. Tehran is also seeking to raise the stakes for the US in the all-important region of southeastern Syria

The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI)/People’s Mujahedeen Organization of Iran (MEK) says hundreds of videos and photos of the incidents have been taken in dozens of towns and cities, and compiled a sample in a video clip.

Photos of NCRI leaders Maryam and Massoud Rajavi feature prominently, along with slogans which the NCRI translated as saying, among other things, “My vote regime change, down with Khamenei, our choice Maryam Rajavi.”
